Priest In Peril
5 quest points
Short (although there's quite a bit of walking involved)
around 1400 prayer xp.
1 Quest Point.
Must be able to kill several level 30 enemies.
50 UNNOTED rune essences (will have to do in two bank trips), a bucket.
Why you should do this quest: Completing this quest gives you access to Morytania, a massive country filled with monsters of all descriptions and some really fun things to do!
How to start:
Speak to King Roald in Varrock palace.
You begin the quest by talking to King Roald. He will tell you about a Sarandomnist temple on the River Salve that he has lost contact with. He will ask you to investigate into it.
Exit the city via the east gate and follow the path north until you reach the end of the road. Then head east and through a gate. (See illustration for map.)
When you get to the temple, right click on the door and select the knock' option, then tell the people at the door that you've been sent to check on Drezel. The people inside will ask you to kill an annoying dog in the mausoleum.
Head north to the dungeon sign (the exclamation mark) and descend the ladder into a room with a scary looking dog (don't worry, it's only level 30 and is very weak...) Kill it and return back upstairs to the temple doors. Talk to the people at the door, and they will tell you to talk to the King back at the palace in Varrock.
Return to King Roald (using my incredibly handy little map if you're still not sure where to go!) and talk to him. He will get a bit angry, and tell you that the dog was a guardian against evil attacks (he obviously doesn't value his safety very much if he employs a level 30 to do it, lol). He will tell you to go back and sort it out.
Note: While you're here, pick up 25 of the 50 rune essence (you will need some inventory space, so don't completely fill it up. It must be unnoted
Hike back to the temple and this time, open the door. Kill one of the level 30 monks of Zamorak until they drop a golden key. Climb the stairs and ladders until you reach the third floor and talk to Drezel through
the cell door. He will tell you a long (but quite interesting) story about various things. He will then tell you to do three things: get him out of the cell, put the vampire out of action (the vampire is in a coffin next to the cell you won't have to fight him) and finally help purify the Holy River (the Salve).
Head back down to where you killed the Temple Guardian and head through the gate. Follow the passage through to a well surrounded by a load of pillars and monuments. Study
each monument until you find one with a black-ish key on it, then use the golden key you got earlier with it.
Return to Drezel's cell and open it with the iron key. He will tell you that he still cannot leave the cell until the vampire has been taken care of. He will advise that you put water from the holy river on its coffin. Return back downstairs to the place where you got the iron key (the room with the monuments in), and use your bucket with well in the centre of the room.
Go back up to Drezel's cell and use the water on the coffin. You will discover that the water is unblessed and thus ineffective against the vampire. Simply talk to Drezel and he will bless it for you. Then use the holy water on the coffin. Drezel will then tell you to meet him down in the mausoleum.
Go back down to where you got the iron key from and head to the northeast corner of the room. Pass through this gate and talk to Drezel. He will tell you that the river has become contaminated with evil, and you suggest using the the rune essence to purify it. Drezel will say that he needs a total of 50 uncharged runestones to do this. If you brought the 25 essence with you, now is a good time to give it to him.
Return to Varrock and collect the rune essence but remember, you can only give Drezel unnoted essence
or he will not accept it. Either way, give him all the essence and he will tell you all about Morytania that lies beyond the holy barrier in the room which Drezel is in.
When you come through the barrier you will find yourself in Morytania! (Yay! A new area!) If you follow the path round, the first settlement you will come to is Canifis. It is filled with innocent looking level 24 men. However
this is where low level players should take care. If you attempt to attack them without wielding the Wolfbane dagger that you received from the quest, then they will turn into level 88 werewolves!!
